The crossover of new materials and new technologies has accelerated the reshuffle of the ceramic industry. Ceramic manufacturers must obtain products suitable for their own development while adapting to survival. Quality is a major point. The quality of ceramics is related to auxiliary agents.
Among many water reducing agents, Henan Honghain Chemical's ceramic grade sodium tripolyphosphate plays an important role in improving the product quality of ceramic slurries, glazes and other production processes.

In the ceramic industry, spray drying is generally used to produce powder. The powder prepared by this method has good fluidity, is suitable for assembly line production requirements, and can be pressed into high-strength green bodies.
However, the spray drying process consumes a lot of energy. According to statistics, the average moisture content of the mud entering the tower is about 40%, and the average moisture content of the powder product leaving the tower is about 7%. About 33% of the water is evaporated, and the energy consumption required is about It accounts for about 13% of the total energy consumption in production.
Therefore, it is hoped that the moisture content of the mud entering the spray drying tower should be as low as possible and the fluidity of the mud should be good, which requires a water-reducing agent to play its role.
In China, ceramic industry generally uses inorganic salts such as water glass, sodium carbonate, and sodium tripolyphosphate as water reducing agents. Due to the constraints of molecular structure, relative molecular mass and other factors, the dispersion effect of ordinary ceramic water-reducing agents is very limited, and when over-doped, side effects often occur.

Currently, Sodium tripolyphosphate is a high-performance water-reducing agent in high demand in the ceramic field. Sodium tripolyphosphate mainly complexes divalent ions such as calcium and magnesium in clay slurry. Through cation exchange, more sodium ions surround the clay. The displaced calcium and magnesium ions are synthesized by chelating with polyphosphate. It is a soluble complex and supplements the steric hindrance effect. This makes the clay more fluid and evenly dispersed in less water.
Ceramic powder is dispersed in water and aggregated to form a slurry of particle bundles. Sodium tripolyphosphate water-reducing agent is added to the slurry. The molecules in the sodium tripolyphosphate water-reducing agent can be adsorbed on the surface of the ceramic particles in the slurry. The adsorption interaction destroys the flocculation between particles and obtains a slurry with good dispersion and fluidity.
The number of molecules in the hydration layer is reduced by sodium ions, thereby releasing excess adsorbed water, increasing the content of free water in the mud, and achieving the water reduction effect.
After decades of continuous research, the fluidity of sodium tripolyphosphate in building ceramics, bathroom ceramics and other porcelain blanks and glaze slurries makes the slurry have the least moisture, better fluidity, no flocculation and sedimentation, and easy production operation. Chinese applications are relatively mature. The ceramic grades developed and produced by Henan Honghai Chemical specifically for the ceramic industry have more than 20 internal control indicators, playing a major role in safeguarding the development of the ceramic industry.
